CZECH INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

15/07/2013

Bernhard Abele and Quint van Beek (both junior members of the Royal Malta Golf Club) are on their way to the Czech Republic to participate in the 2013 International Junior Amateur Championship to be held in Brno.

The Championship will be decided by stroke play in a 3-day event over 54 holes at Golf Club Brno. The player with the lowest gross score over 54 holes will be declared the Czech Junior Amateur Champion for 2013.

The Championship will be played between the 16th and 18th July with a practice round available on Monday 15th July. The Brno resort has three 9-hole links courses known as the Iron, Wooden and Stone Courses. Each combination is a par 72 and the length varies from 5600 to 6100 metres depending on which combination of 18 holes is played. The difficulty of the courses is reflected by their slope index: 137, 137 and 145 respectively which again is depending on the combination that will be played.

The courses do not teem with high green vegetation and the layout of holes is in such a way that the golfers do not need to hit balls blindly. However water hazards are abundant which will complicate significantly the life of the players.
