KHACHATUROV FATHER & SON WIN THE GENERATION CUP 2016

The sixth edition of the MGA Generation Cup sponsored by NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto was played at the Royal Malta Golf Club on Sunday, 17th April 2016. A total of 46 players played in the main tournament whilst another 12 players participated in the concurrent 9-hole competition organised for the very young players. The main competition was played in a Greensomes Medal stroke play format with a minimum of six tee shots per player. The smaller competition had a similar format but was played as a Stableford.

JJ Micallef adopted young Noah Gratil and won the 9-hole competition with a veritable one over par for the course resulting in 31 points. Andy Borg playing with daughter Amelia came in second with 22 points followed by Robert Sheasby playing with Zane Peetrs and Klaus Vahnsen playing with Luke Bianco on 21 points.

Team Khachaturov composed of Grigor and his son David and playing off handicap 26, improved their score from last year by two scores to secure winning the Generation Cup by two shots over team Beck composed of William and his son Nicholas playing off handicap 11. Third place was another father and son due composed of Ricky and Sam Reeves who returned a score of 63 playing off a team handicap of 18.

The prizes for the tournament were presented to the winners by Naum Janakiev (General Manager at NESTLÉ Malta) in the presence of Alanna Baldacchino (Junior Product Manager at NESTLÉ Malta), William Beck (MGA President) and more importantly in the company of many fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, grandparents, grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces who came together to compete and to enjoy a glorious Sunday at the Royal Malta Golf Club.
